MediaCom wins E.ON media account

WPP’s MediaCom has won E.ON’s media planning and buying account.The contract is said to be worth £30 million. The deal incorporates E.ON’s online media planning and buying section.

Formerly managed by Zed Media, the contract was competed for by Initiative and PHD.
E.ON is undergoing a restructuring process which has also seen MediaVest Manchester’s digital unit take on it’s search marketing account.

ITV’s new Enterprise with leading US Studio

ITV has development plans that have started with the acquisition of a minority stake in American US digital studio, Electric Farm Entertainment. The opening 10% equity stake is expected to increase to a controlling share of the content studio by the end of 2008. The investment comes after the global success of TV show Afterworld.

Blinkx, the web video specialist, has introduced an accessible catalogue of all legal British TV shows.
Blinkx Remote has set up a service that allows users to play full-length episodes of programmes that are legally available online. Search criteria include searches by title, genre, network, rating, and users can also subscribe to receive alerts about newly available programmes.

Saatchis’ split from Standard Life

Saatchi & Saatchi have severed links with Standard Life. After winning the Axa account, sources say conflicts became irresolvable, despite SSF putting the Axa account into the Team Saatchi division. Standard Life has been restructuring their marketing department, and during the past 18 months, Saatchi & Saatchi have facilitated them on key strategic projects.

UK operation praised for Interpublic’s rise in revenue

The UK operation of Interpublic Group has been credited with its 21.4% increase in international revenues in its Q2. The Group manages the Universal McCann and Initiative agencies in the UK. The rise in revenue has been driven by net client wins, with improved spending throughout all operational regions, with specific commendation being given to the Asia Pacific region and the UK.

BBC Worldwide makes two significant appointments

BBC Worldwide has appointed Helen Kellie as it’s first director of marketing. Kellie was formerly director of marketing, communications and audiences at the TV and radio division, BBC Vision. She will now begin her new role on 1 October, answering to BBC Worldwide chief executive, John Smith.
Kellie worked with Reckitt Benckiser, owner of Vanish, Finish and Harpic brands. She joined the BBC in 2000, responsible for branding and planning.
