The Most Successful E-commerce Marketing Strategies

Submitted by admin on December 12, 2008 – 1:55 pm3 Comments

Ecommerce marketing comes in a number of strategies; each one of the strategies can be used as a tool either on its own or in combination with other forms of marketing to find the best way to market a service or product. A small business that is marketing on the Internet does not require as much money to be spent as a brick and mortar business would need, but it does require similar strategies that are used by public relations agents.

Here are the most common and successful forms of Ecommerce marketing:

1. Affiliate Marketing

2. SEO Optimization

3. Blog Marketing

4. AdSense

5. Link Exchanges

6. Social Bookmarking

7. Sponsorship Advertisements

8. Article/ Content Marketing

A good knowledge of web marketing can make any of these tools work for them. But, true success will not be reached until the business owner stops looking at their company and their product, and focuses on the customer.

Recent statistics have shown that Myspace and Facebook have more traffic than Yahoo and MSN, and google is slowly but surely starting to take control of the net. When one person leads another person to a product or website, the search engines lose their power – and that is what is happening.

Many ecommerce sites have turned away from SEO and are turning to Myspace. But, this is not the solution. The marketing aspect of attracting clients is something that marketing procedures needs to cover. It is not a matter able to cover a large target market, but reaching the right market.

The recent trend for ecommerce business owners is to jump on the bandwagon building hundreds of links into their site. Each one costs the business owner money and, or time, but each will not attract the right target market – those ready to buy.

The Internet has three levels which people use it for, entertainment, education and exchange. The group interested in entertainment wants to have fun, meet people, and replace their television time with socializing on the Internet.

The groups that use the Internet for education usually need to solve a problem, and once they have solved this problem they leave. These people rarely have interest in buying a product and would usually prefer to continue with the problem instead of purchasing a product to fix it.

And finally the group that uses the Internet for exchange purposes are the people who are ready to buy your products, they usually buy a product if is has been mentioned in a forum or has been bookmarked, if these people do not save their information as they are searching, they will usually buy from the first site they hit, which is usually one of the links found on the first page of google – which can be provided by using a successful search engine optimization company.
